A Mindful Moment

“He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’”
Mark 5:34
These past few months have been a whirlwind of joy and mindfulness. I thought I might share with you more about me. I’ve never considered myself much of an artist, but I’ve always known I enjoy making things for others. It started small with little books for relative or serenading my primary school classmates with John Legend. I think I can finally say I identify as a creative person and I am proud to declare that. I’ve always had a sense of imposter syndrome. People would look at me and say I seemed “artistic” or “bold”. I never knew why, just from looking at me, I could be so easily labeled. But now I know they might have seen that inner spirit God gave me.
To create soulful, creative pieces from this gift of resilience against all that might seek to bring myself and those I love down. The world is full of so much darkness at the moment-I wanted to share a bit of light with everyone. This shop was created during a time where I was reaching for a way to produce my thoughts into reality. Something feasible that others would look at and see who I really am.
I think I’ve noticed everyone I know can describe me as one thing: an elementary school teacher in South Carolina. Is that all they thought He has planned for me? Surely not…I mean I can understand being comfortable in what society expects us to do. Go to college, get a job that will help you survive, maybe get married and have kids.
But why leave out the part about finding yourself? About finding your village? Your craft? You are so much more than what other see you as. Why not take a mindful moment to show them? We all grow in more ways than one. Show them who you are, show them your light burns even in the darkest times.
